In addition to Dr. Tahara, our office team consists of a physician assistant (PA-C), two office nurses, two full time vascular ultrasound technologists, and administrative staff.  We have a full time Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) to ensure the quality of your vascular ultrasound studies.

Dr. Bob Tahara, MD FACS

A native of Niagara Falls, New York, Dr.Tahara returned to this region in 2002 after completing his surgical training in Omaha, Nebraska and a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine with honors in 1993.

While at the University of Nebraska  Medical Center he developed his interest and experience in new and emerging minimally invasive vascular surgery techniques such as angioplasty and stenting. While in training he was honored with induction into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. During his time on active duty with the U.S. Navy, he graduated from the Navy's Dive School in Panama City, Florida and subsequently was designated a U.S. Navy Diving Medical Officer. His operational tour was spent supporting U.S. Navy Special Operations units in the Pacific.

Dr. Tahara is currently Attending Surgeon in Vascular Surgery at Bradford Regional Medical Center and is also the Director of Allegheny Vein & Vascular.  During his time on active staff at Bradford Regional Medical Center, he has been personally responsible for the conception and formation of the Peripheral Interventions Program as well as bringing numerous  new cutting edge vascular procedures and technologies to the region. He has developed a busy teaching program and is very active in endovascular device development and training of industry personnel.

 After developing the largest vein and endovenous ablation practice in this region, Dr. Tahara was designated in 2009 as a faculty member for the VNUS Total Vein Care Course.  He has been and continues to be  the leading provider of the VNUS Closure procedure in our region.  He completes more VNUS procedures than all of the other physicians in this region combined!  Dr. Tahara continues to maintain an on-site teaching program for minimally invasive venous procedures and care that draws physician attendees from all over the eastern seaboard and midwest United States.

In 2010, Dr. Tahara has been an invited lecturer/faculty member both regionally and nationally on a variety of endovascular and endovenous topics.  He was recently appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine through the Division of Vascular Surgery at UPMC.
